The Community Charter School of Paterson was created by New Jersey
Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) in 2007 based on our belief
that we could do more to help advance educational excellence in the City
of Paterson—and at that same time promote positive youth development
and strengthen families.
We want our school to be a special place that recognizes that the
heart of any exceptional school is great teaching. And we know that
great teaching—and by extension great learning—happens when it is
supported by an exciting curriculum that promotes a life-long love of
learning, by dedicated and caring administrators, by engaged and active
parents, and by knowledgeable and accessible community partners.
Our core objective will always be student achievement. But we’re
also interested in helping our students, parents, and families through a
full array of support services. We want our school to be a community
school, a place that opens early, closes late, and is open on weekends
and during the summer as a welcoming place for everyone who comes
through the front door.
Rehabilitating the school building itself is part of NJCDC’s overall
strategy to revitalize the historic neighborhood in which it is
located. With the new Great Falls National Historical Park just blocks
away, we want to promote positive neighborhood change at the same time
we provide our children with the head start they deserve.
I couldn’t be prouder of our faculty, staff, administrators,
students, and parents—all working together to make our school one of the
best in the state. My personal objective is nothing less than that,
and my pledge is to work as hard as I can to ensure that each child we
educate is given every possible advantage.
