CCSP Parents Go to Washington, DC

On Tuesday June 22^nd CCSP’s Home School Council joined other PTO’s throughout the city of Paterson for a Parent Leadership Tour of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The tour sponsored by the Marilyn J. Morheuser Parent Recourse Center was a way for parent leaders throughout the city to discuss issues around education and ways in which parents can become full partners in their children’s education.  In addition to the full tour of the historic Capitol Building, parents also visited the House of Representative Gallery where legislation is debated and voted on. Parents also had an opportunity to meet with New Jersey’s senior Congressman, Donald Payne to talk about educational legislation in congress including the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind. Based on the success of this program we plan to make this tour and annual event.
